Standard Training for MDK Private Security Officers

Pre-hire Training

MDK Security Guards undergo a minimum 40 hours of comprehensive training to be completed within the first 4 weeks of their date of hire.

This training ensures that all guards are well-prepared and proficient in their duties



Training Topics:


  •  Legal and Ethical Responsibilities: Understanding the laws and ethical guidelines that govern the conduct of security personnel.
  • Emergency Response Procedures: Training on how to effectively respond to emergencies, including natural disasters and criminal activities.
  • Conflict Resolution and De-escalation Techniques: Strategies to manage and defuse conflicts peacefully without resorting to force.
  • Surveillance and Patrol Practices: Best practices for monitoring and patrolling areas to ensure safety and security.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification: Essential medical training to provide immediate assistance in case of injuries or health emergencies.
  • Use of Force Policies: Guidelines on the appropriate use of force, emphasizing the need for restraint and responsible action.
  • Incident Reporting and Documentation: Proper methods for recording and reporting incidents accurately and comprehensively.
  • Safety and Security Protocols: Standard operating procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment for all.

All Security Officers must complete comprehensive training on the powers and responsibilities associated with making arrests. 

This ensures that they perform their duties legally, ethically, and effectively. 




Training Topics:


  • Legal Authority: Understanding the legal basis for arrest powers, including state and federal laws that govern the authority of security personnel to detain individuals.
  • Arrest Procedures: Detailed procedures for Arresting individuals safely and legally, including the use of physical restraints and the rights of the subject being arrested
  • Use of Force: Guidelines on the appropriate use of force during arrest, emphasizing de-escalation techniques to minimize the need for physical intervention.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Proper documentation of arrest incidents, including writing detailed reports and maintaining accurate records for legal and administrative purposes.
  • Rights of the Accused: Ensuring subjects rights are respected, including the right to be informed of the reasons for their arrest
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication techniques for interacting with subjects, witnesses, and law enforcement officers, ensuring clear and professional exchanges.
  • Crisis Management: Training on handling high-stress situations calmly and effectively, including scenarios that may require immediate decision-making and quick action.
  • Ethical Considerations: Emphasizing the ethical responsibilities of security personnel during arrests, including the importance of impartiality, integrity, and respect for all individuals.


These training requirements ensure that  security personnel are well-equipped to perform arrests in a manner that is safe, legal, and respectful of individuals' rights.

Firearms Proficiency and Safety

Range Qualifications:

Armed guards must demonstrate their ability to handle, maintain, and operate their assigned firearm safely and accurately. 


  



Training Topics:


  • Initial Firearms Safety Course: Comprehensive instruction on firearm safety, covering handling, storage, and maintenance to ensure guards understand the importance of safety protocols.
  • Practical Range Training: Guards must complete a series of live-fire exercises on the range to demonstrate their proficiency in marksmanship, target acquisition, and firearm control. This includes both static and dynamic shooting scenarios to simulate real-world situations.
  • Qualification Tests: Guards must pass a qualification test that evaluates their accuracy and ability to handle their firearm under pressure. This test involves shooting a set number of rounds at various distances and achieving a minimum score to pass.


Ongoing training and requalifications administered every 6 months.
